Greek organic Kalamata olives by Oliveology

Kalamata, also known as Kalamon olives are one of Greece’s superior quality table olive varieties.

oliveologyThey are large, black olives with a smooth, fleshy texture and they are named after the city of Kalamata in the southern Peloponnese of Greece.

Kalamata olives have PDO status in the European Union, meaning that only olives originating from Kalamata and nearby areas can be sold as Kalamata olives.

Oliveology’s Kalamata olives are grown on a hillside near Sparta, traditionally harvested by a farmer dedicated to producing the very best olives and using only organic techniques. The olives are handpicked and naturally cured in fresh water, a process, which needs dedicated and constant observation for 6 to 9 months. No mechanical or chemical interactions are used to speed up the curing process and they are not pasteurized.

Oliveology’s olives are packaged in organic extra virgin olive oil, vinegar, very little salt and wild aromatic herbs, a flavorful mixture that can be used for salads or cooking.
